BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei Darussalam participated in the 47th Asean Senior Officials on Drug Matters (ASOD) Meeting which was held virtually on Aug 4 and 5.
The Brunei Darussalam delegation was led by director of Narcotics Control Bureau Datuk Paduka Mohd Zalani Ismail, together with senior officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau.
The meeting was officiated by Thailand’s Minister of Justice Police Lieutenant General Rutthaphon Naowarat as the host country and was chaired by Deputy Secretary-General of the Narcotics Control Board Apikit Ch.rojprasert and brought together senior officials from Asean Member States to discuss regional priorities and strengthen cooperation in addressing the evolving drug situation.
During the Meeting, the Asean Drug Monitoring Report (ADMR) 2026 was officially launched, providing an overview of the latest drug trends and developments in the Asean region.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Asean Member States to exchange updates on their respective drug situations and share experiences and best practices in the areas of preventive education, law enforcement, treatment and rehabilitation, research and international cooperation.
Asean Member States also engaged with Asean Dialogue Partners and international organisations to further strengthen collaboration in addressing the transnational challenges posed by illicit drugs.
Brunei Darussalam reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with fellow Asean Member States and Dialogue Partners in advancing regional cooperation and supporting Asean’s shared aspiration of a drug-free Asean. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
