HONG KONG (China Daily/ANN): Police arrested 69 people, including two district councillors, on suspicion of participating in illegal assemblies, possessing offensive weapons and other offences on Thursday (Oct 1) as the force stepped up law enforcement across the territory following calls by netizens to stage violent acts on National Day.
Large crowds have started gathering on Great George Street from 2pm and some of them have chanted the slogan "Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times", allegedly inciting or abetting others to commit secession, police announced on their official Facebook page.
