New Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong surge past 50,000

HONG KONG (China Daily/Asia News Network): Hong Kong reported another record high in its daily Covid-19 tally on Wednesday (March 2) with 55,353 cases, a sharp rise from some 32,000 cases reported on Tuesday.

Albert Au Ka-wing, principal medical and health officer of the Centre for Health Protection’s communicable disease branch, said in a press briefing that the latest cases brought the infection tally under the current fifth wave of the pandemic to over 293,000.
