Company’s ex-MD charged in court

PETALING JAYA: A former managing director of a wellness company has been charged in the Magistrate’s Court with misappropriation of property worth RM60,000.

Chua Seong Keat or Leon Chua, 58, claimed trial to the charge under Section 403 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment of up to five years, whipping and fine, if found guilty.

He was granted RM3,000 bail by the court.

The case will be mentioned on March 22.

He allegedly misappropriated the money from the company for his personal use.

The company which offers reflexology therapies, massage services and bodywork allegedly discovered the matter after an independent forensic audit carried out after Chua resigned.

Meanwhile, based on a search at the court registry, there are at least four lawsuits filed against Chua by the company for breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of funds, manipulation of account balances and acting without authorisation.
