The great wetlands of the world teem with wildlife, but increasingly, they are being disrupted by human activity.
Five of the world’s great wetlands — Atchafalaya in Louisiana, the United States; Lake Tana, Ethiopia; Bulyong Reserve, South Australia; Komsomolskaya and Bolonsky Reserves, eastern Russia; Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary, Bharatpur (Rajasthan), India — are all currently under threat from global warming and population encroachment.
