Maybank will be introducing a daily transaction limit for reload services, including mobile prepaid, starting May 26.

"This is in line with our continued efforts to enhance the security of your transactions and ensure a safer online banking experience," the company said in a statement on its website.

The default daily transaction limit will be RM200 for prepaid services (mobile prepaid Malaysia/international, Internet and others) and game credits with PIN.

Users can increase the daily transaction limit to the maximum RM500 via Maybank2u web.

According to its FAQ, users can go to Settings, select Pay & Transfer and then Reload Limit.

A 12-hour cooling period will apply before the new limit takes effect on both the MAE app and Maybank2u web.

"During this period, you can only make reload transactions up to your current limit. Rest assured we will notify you via push notification and email on the MAE app when the cooling-off period starts and ends."

The bank said users are highly recommended to review their daily transaction limit for transfer, pay and reload services based on their needs.
