A video of a man in China fishing off the side of his bed after his home was flooded has delighted mainland social media.

The unnamed man from Wuhan in central China’s Hubei province began fishing next to his bed after recent heavy rains caused his home to flood, but instead of fish, he only caught insects, The Paper reported.

The man’s wife, surnamed Dong, filmed the video and shared the details online, saying they were at home when a downpour occurred earlier this month.

“Aiya, in an instant, our home was flooded,” Dong told The Paper.

After the flash floods, Dong said her husband got the idea to fish.

“He is a fishing enthusiast,” she said.

The man threw a line into the floodwaters to see what happened, but after many attempts over half an hour, he had not caught any fish.

“We did not see any fish, but we did see quite a few insects,” Dong added.
