VIENNA: Non-profit group noyb, led by privacy activist Max Schrems, said it had filed a complaint against Amazon to the German data protection authority over a lack of data security in a case it said could lead to fines of more than US$4bil (RM16.73bil).
Amazon's email servers, used for direct communication between customers and third-party sellers on the platform, do not allow baseline industry encryption in some cases, breaking security rules under the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), noyb said on Feb 19.
