Oceanhorn made a big impact in 2013. The open-world, role-playing game did not feel or look like the mobile game it was, but rather like a console game, thanks to its fancy graphics, rock-solid controls, extensive game world, and well-narrated history.
Now its successor, Oceanhorn 2: Knights Of The Lost Realm, has arrived for iOS devices. It's actually even better than the original: the game looks great, plays beautifully, and offers a massive game world full of adventure.
The story: A young knight is tasked with finding a stolen box that will help in the fight against Warlock Mesmeroth and his Dark Army.
He's accompanied by allies such as a samurai sword-wielding robot as he travels around the world of Gaia, collecting items, engaging in fights and side quests, and solving puzzles.
Oceanhorn 2 is heavily inspired by the The Legend Of Zelda series. While the first part was still based on the old 2D Zeldas, Oceanhorn 2 is a contemporary game and competes directly with 2017's Breath Of The Wild.
Players explore an open world, consisting of an ocean of small islands hosting friendly people, wild monsters, and deep dungeons. Zelda fans will quickly feel right at home but the game should also appeal to other players.
The only restriction is the gaming platform: Oceanhorn 2 is currently available only through Apple's game subscription service Apple Arcade. It costs US$4.99 (RM20.66) a month and offers unlimited access to around 100 games. There's no Android version of the game. – dpa
