Perform an Instagram privacy check in five steps

By default, a new Instagram account is set up for maximum public visibility. If you want to protect your privacy on the photo-based social network there are five steps in the app's settings that you can take, the consumer portal Mobilsicher.de advises.

– Visibility: Under Privacy > Account Privacy, you can alter your settings so that only confirmed users can see your photos and videos, as opposed to everyone. However, you shouldn't rely on this, the experts say. There are apps and services that can still get access to view the content in private accounts.
