Astro Maxis IPTV customers will enjoy higher speed, lower price next month

Astro is reducing the fee of all existing Astro Maxis IPTV subscribers to RM89 starting next month.

Currently, IPTV 10 is priced at RM148 a month, IPTV 20 at RM198 and IPTV 30 at RM248.

Those on IPTV 10 which offers 10Mbps (megabits per second) speed and IPTV 20 which offers 20Mbps will be also upgraded to 30Mbps. IPTV 30 customers will remain at the same speed – 30Mbps.

The new pricing matches the 30Mbps plan offered by Maxis which is the high speed broadband partner for Astro for these plans.

“Letters outlining the new offer will be sent to existing customers in November, along with the calculation reflecting the savings from December onwards,” it said in a statement.

The company said subscribers will be automatically upgraded to the new speed without having to recontract, and will not need to upgrade their modem or router to enjoy 30Mbps.

Starting next year Astro will be offering a 100Mbps IPTV plan but as it requires new hardware – a dual-band router – users will most likely have to sign up for a fresh contract.

Both the 30Mbps plan and the upcoming 100Mbps one don't have a data quota.
