New smartphone brand aimed at young consumers enters Malaysian market

Realme smartphones will soon be officially available in Malaysia, with a launch in Kuala Lumpur today (Nov 7) unveiling three new models. These devices are targeted towards young consumers looking for affordable devices with flagship-like features.

First is the Realme 2 Pro which comes in a 6.3in FHD+ display with a dewdrop-shaped notch. It boasts a 90.8% screen to body ratio. The device runs on Android 8.1 powered by a Snapdragon 660AE processor with choices of 4GB, 6GB or 8G of RAM. Customers can also choose from 64GB or 128GB of internal space storage. 

It has a 16-megapixel dual rear cameras setup. Users are promised studio-quality photos as the device is equipped with a Sony IMX398 sensor (f/1.7 aperture).

The smartphone also has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with AI Beauty Selfie function. This feature uses gender, age and skin complexion analysis for customised visual enhancements for group photos. 

Battery capacity comes at 3,500mAh. The Realme 2 Pro in Black Sea and Ice Lake colour are priced at RM799 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB model, RM899 for the 6GB RAM with 64GB model and RM999 for the 8GB with 128GB model. This device will be exclusively available on Shopee from Nov 11. 

The company also unveiled Realme 2, a device with a 6.2in super view notch display and a 88.8% screen to body ratio. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and runs on ColorOS 5.1, an operating system based on Android 8.1. 

Customers can choose from 3GB or 4GB of RAM and between 32GB or 64GB of space. The device has a microSD card slot for users who want to expand their storage space up to 256GB.

Other features include dual rear cameras (13MP + 2MP) and an 8MP selfie camera with AI Beauty capabilities, Front Camera HDR and Bokeh mode. It also has AI face recognition and fingerprint unlock. 

Its main draw here is the mammoth 4,230mAh battery capacity. Realme 2 is priced at RM599 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB model and RM699 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB model and will come in Diamond Red and Diamond Black. Available on Nov 24 at selected retail outlets. 

There's also the Realme C1 model priced at RM449 for the 2GB RAM and 16GB model. It comes with a 6.2in notch full screen display with a 88.8% screen to body ratio.

Runs on ColorOS 5.1 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor. Other features include dual cameras setup (13-megapixel + 2-megapixel) with 5-megapixel selfie camera. The phone's camera features are equipped with AI Beauty, Front Camera HDR and Bokeh Mode. Battery capacity comes at 4,230mAh. 

This device is only available on Lazada from Nov 22 to Dec 22.
