Versatile device: The TomTom VIO is weatherproof, circular, and its display responds to touches from even gloved hands.

Rather than accept that thanks to smartphones, SatNavs are about to go the way of the MP3 player and the point-and-shoot digital camera, TomTom is getting creative instead, embracing the smartphone's capabilities and at IFA 2016 unveiled the world's first navigation device tailor-made for scooters.

The TomTom VIO is weatherproof, circular, and its display responds to touches from even gloved hands. Its outer silicon housing is available in a range of bright colours so that it complements or contrasts the bike to which it's fitted and the whole unit can be clamped on to a mirror stem or the handlebars.
