NEW YORK: Apple and Google-owner Alphabet may be facing an app-store squeeze.
The tech giants' dominance in smartphone operating systems has allowed them to take hefty 30% tolls on other people's apps sold in their online stores, but both are now cutting in half their take of proceeds from subscriptions.
