Mobile applications can help improve healthy habits

App-y news: With weight loss, scientists found that those who used apps in parallel to a general weight-loss programme were more likely to succeed in the short term.

Researchers at the American Heart Association (AHA) have shown that smartphone applications and mobile sensors had the potential to improve users' cardiovascular health, particularly by allowing them to adopt healthier lifestyle choices. 

According to a study carried out by Nielsen in 2014, nearly one in five adults in the United States use one or more applications to track their physiological data. The most popular applications relate to physical exercise and heart rate measurement.
