The version that will be sold here will come with 32GB of internal storage for both models and it’s unclear when the other storage options (64GB and 128GB) will be available.
As this is the first time the Galaxy S models will not come with an expansion slot for adding more memory, Samsung is giving buyers 100GB of Microsoft OneDrive Cloud storage for free for two years.
The colours that have been announced are White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (Galaxy S6) and Green Emerald (Galaxy S6 Edge only).
You can pre-order the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge from April 3 to 12 from the Samsung Malaysia website. Those who pre-order the smartphones will receive a wireless charger while stocks last.
The Galaxy S6 has a more conventional design with a flat 5.1in Quad HD screen while the S6 Edge is slightly taller and has a screen that curves around both sides of the smartphone. The “Edge Screen” allows users to read notifications and view their favourite contacts.
As the S6 Edge has a display that curves on both sides, either side can be used although you can only use one and not both at the same time.
Both models have a 16-megapixel main camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The main camera has optical image stabilisation built-in and features automatic single-shot HDR (high dynamic range).
A new feature called Quick Launch allows users to launch the camera from any screen in just 0.7 seconds by double tapping the Home button.The S6 and S6 Edge also feature the new Samsung Exynos processor built on the 14nm process, a first for a mobile processor, the company claimed. This energy-efficient Exynos processor is an octa-core chip made up of two quad-core processors running at 2.1GHz and 1.5GHz.
The S6 and S6 Edge have slightly different battery capacities – the S6 has a 2,550mAh battery while the S6 Edge has a slightly larger 2,600mAh battery.
You can also pre-order both devices at Senheng outlets or online via senQ Digital Station from April 3 to 16. Pre-orders will come with original Samsung Wireless Charger worth RM232 and Promote dual car charger worth RM75, while stocks last.
