BATTLING POLLUTION: The wearable called AirBeam gathers data on the air, for environmentalists to highlight to policy makers.

Upping the ante in what wearable tech can do to improve lives, there's a new portable device that could lead to better health while giving users the added benefit of contributing towards an important cause: reducing air pollution.

A Brooklyn, New York-based non-profit organisation called HabitatMaps is getting people involved in fighting the problem that often goes unaccounted for by creating a crowd-sourcing campaign to assess the air around the world.
