MICROSOFT’S Xbox One next-generation videogame console got to a rocky start last year but the company has a new gameplan for 2014.

At the moment, the Xbox One lags behind Sony’s PlayStation 4 in terms of sales but Microsoft’s head of Xbox Phil Spencer stressed that it is dedicated to bringing more quality and exclusive games to its console.
At his E3 2014 keynote attendees were treated to 90 minutes of videos of upcoming games for the Xbox One.

Insomniac’s over-the-top third-person shooter Sunset Overdrive lets players jump, run, clamber and grind through the city as they kill mutants in style using all manner of unconventional weapons in a post-apocalyptic world.

For racing fans, Forza Horizon 2 will offer a massive open-world where players can race in over 100 different cars in spectacular tracks in different parts of the world.

Shooter fans who want a trip down Halo memory lane can look forward to replaying all four Halo games when Master Chief Collection is released.

Also, although the next game in the series — Halo 5: Guardians — is not due until next year, Microsoft will offer fans a chance to try the game’s multiplayer mode this holiday season.

The game lets you revisit key events that shaped the Halo universe and have a blast with friends in virtually every multiplayer map from all the past Halo games.

Microsoft’s Lionhead Studio’s introduced Fable Legends, a co-operative adventure game where players can play as heroes or villains. The bad guys get to set traps and unleash monsters to stop the meddling heroes.

Harmonix announced that it is working on a new Dance Central game titled Spotlight. The new digital download title will let players dance to the tune of chart topping hits using the Xbox One’s fancy Kinect camera.

Also, the maker of the highly popular Limbo videogame, Playdead, is working on a new game called Inside. We don’t know much about the game but the story reminded us of Limbo — a boy is trapped in a dystopian city which he is trying to escape.

Other titles from third-party developers that are headed to the new console include The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Tom Clancy’s The Division and Assassin’s Creed: Unity.

Microsoft also revealed that it will be working on dormant IPs such as action/strategy game Phantom Dust (a title from the original Xbox in 2005) and Crackdown (an Xbox 360 launch title back in 2007).

Unfortunately, the company did not announce any plans to bring its console to Malaysia. Still, we will be taking a more in-depth look at some of the titles in the coming days. Stay tuned.
