SONY Electronics has launched two 4K Ultra HDTV models, the 65in and 55in KD-X9004A. Each TV has eight million pixels or four times the resolution of a full HDTV to deliver the most immersive home entertainment experience, said Sony.

The models boast Triluminos display technology to produce rich, authentic colours with subtle tones and hard-to-reproduce natural shades of red and green.

They even use QD Vision’s Colour IQ 1 optical component to achieve a wider colour gamut and provide a far more natural and vivid viewing experience with a heightened sense of depth, claimed the company.

Also, as there are no affordable 4K movies in the market, Sony has introduced “Mastered in 4K” Blu-ray movies which can be played on standard Blu-ray players to get a glimpse of what 4K technology has to offer.

The Amazing Spider-Man, Total Recall (2012), Ghostbusters, Battle: Los Angeles, The Karate Kid (2010), Taxi Driver, Angels & Demons, The Other Guys and Spider-Man (2002) are some of the titles being offered. They have been remastered in 4K but have been down sampled to 2K to fit on a standard Blu-ray disc.

The movies may not offer true 4K content but they have a higher resolution, more detail and have an extended colour space.

The TVs also comes with built-in 4K X-Reality Pro technology to upscale movies on-the-fly. This technology analyses and enhances movies including DVD, Blu-ray and even YouTube videos to enhance them to 4K.

To complete the viewing experience, the TVs use Magnetic Fluid technology to create “damper-less” speaker structures that produce high-fidelity sound while keeping the design slim.

Users can also directly access the Internet from the TV as it comes with built-in WiFi.

A one-touch mirroring feature will also allow them to share content from their smartphone directly on the TV wirelessly.

The 65in and 55in KD-X9004A TVs retail for RM23,999 and RM16,999 respectively.

The Mastered in 4K movies are priced between RM89.90 and RM149.90.
