MIXUE Malaysia commemorates a major achievement with over a 100 new halal-certified outlets.

This achievement was marked by a symbolic presentation of the halal certificate from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) to Mixue in a commemoration ceremony that took place at the Hilton Petaling Jaya, Selangor today.

The certification was awarded by Jakim.

As one of the largest ice cream and tea chains in Malaysia, Mixue is committed to putting local cultural values at the heart of every business decision – reinforcing its position in the Malaysian food and beverage industry.

Mixue general manager Wang Wei Long said that every step of the company's production and sales process adheres to a strict halal standard.

“Halal certification at the outlet-level provides additional confidence to our customers and reflects our commitment to stringent quality control across our supply chain.

“From raw material procurement to outlet operational procedures, we comply with all Jakim requirements and have developed a comprehensive Mixue Halal Assurance System.

“Every outlet is required to follow this procedure to ensure consistent quality, transparent management and legal compliance throughout the country,” he said.

He added that he was grateful for the support from organisations such as Jakim and the Malaysian Islamic Propagation Foundation (Yadim) in their role in the company’s halal journey.

The event was attended by Jakim Halal Management Division director Ustaz Muhyiddin Haji Aziz and Yadim Investment and Generation Division director Ummu Hani Husna Abdul Aziz.

Muhyiddin said Mixue’s achievements in the context of halal certification were remarkable since the company has not been operating in Malaysia for long.

“This shows that halal certification is an important factor in their business operations and expansion,” he said.

He hopes that Mixue continues its commitment to certifying the rest of its outlets.

“I hope that there is an action plan in place to ensure that all 700 outlets in Malaysia can be halal-certified,” he added.

According to the Mixue halal team, the company plans to grow the number of halal-certified outlets in the future.

Following the company’s principle of offering high-quality products at an affordable price, Mixue is committed to ensuring that everyone can confidently enjoy its food and beverage offerings.

Mixue business owners Chong Pei Shia and Navroop Singh said that pursuing halal certification was a valuable addition to their businesses.

“In my estimation, getting the halal certification can help my business grow by around 20%.

“Most Malaysians will look for the halal certificate at restaurants. It's important that we get certified so that our customers are more confident consuming our beverages and ice cream,” said Chong.

Navroop said that the halal certification placed great emphasis on cleanliness, which is important for a food and beverage business.

“It was a tough journey, but at the end of the day it was worth it,” he said.

He was also grateful to Mixue for honouring his efforts at the celebration event.

“I think Mixue really appreciates all the licensees who went through the halal certification process,” he added.

Both Chong and Navroop received the halal certificates for their businesses at the ceremony.

A total of 20 Mixue representatives were also presented with their certificates during the event.

Mixue halal project lead Guo Xuying said that the halal certification is more than just a promotional tool but a testament to the company’s commitment to social responsibility.

Mixue Malaysia also extended a helping hand to flood-affected areas in Perlis and Perak last month.

The team visited flood relief centres in the area to offer comfort and moral support to flood victims, ensuring they did not feel alone during this difficult time.

Mixue entered the Malaysian market in 2022 and has grown to become one of the largest tea and ice cream chains in South-East Asia.
