The RuMa Hotel and Residences awarded the Michelin Key

The RuMa offers a serene refuge amid Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant rhythm.

AN urban retreat in the heart of the city, The RuMa Hotel and Residences redefines modern Malaysian luxury through the lens of heritage, design and hostmanship.

The RuMa, which translates to “home” in Malay, embodies a philosophy of intuitive service and cultural appreciation, where every detail evokes a sense of belonging and discovery.

In 2025, the hotel was recognised with One Michelin Key for its exceptional hospitality and strong sense of place, underscoring its reputation for offering a stay defined by individuality, character and service that goes beyond expectations.

A reflection of Malaysia’s soul

Located steps away from the Petronas Twin Towers and within walking distance of Suria KLCC and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, The RuMa offers a serene refuge amid the capital’s vibrant rhythm.

Every aspect of the hotel, from design and decor to its culinary and wellness offerings, pays homage to Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by a terracotta birdcage installation inspired by the birdcages once used to test air quality in local mines, surrounding a handcrafted bronze water fountain symbolising connection and discovery.

Inside, a grand spiral staircase recalls the grace of colonial architecture, while the “Kebayaku” installation celebrates Malaysian artistry and femininity through a modern interpretation of the traditional kebaya.

Each of the hotel’s 253 guest rooms and suites evokes a sense of “home”. Details such as classic ceiling fans – a familiar feature in Malaysian households, and a minibar stocked with local snacks reflect The RuMa’s connection to local living.

Offering sweeping views of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline, the rooms balance contemporary elegance with warmth and familiarity, a tranquil retreat that remains rooted in the city’s energy.

A taste of Malaysia

At the heart of The RuMa’s dining experience lies ATAS, a restaurant that celebrates Malaysia’s vibrant culinary tapestry.

Its name, which translates to “elevated,” reflects both its design and philosophy of refining tradition through storytelling.

Drawing inspiration from Malaysia’s multicultural heritage, ATAS reimagines familiar dishes in innovative ways, uniting flavours from Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions.

Its “Rasa Malaysia” menu pays homage to the country’s culinary diversity, offering an elevated yet soulful dining experience that bridges tradition and modernity.

Complementing ATAS are The LIBRARI, SEVEN Lobby Bar, and SANTAI Pool Bar and Lounge — each offering distinct experiences that reflect The RuMa’s spirit of connection and leisure.

The LIBRARI, which opens daily until midnight, serves as a social space for afternoon tea, light bites and intimate conversations.

Its “Chapters of Heritage Afternoon Tea” celebrates Malaysia’s cultural influences through locally inspired flavours and artisanal presentation, echoing The RuMa’s approach of reinterpreting tradition through modern luxury.

At SEVEN Lobby Bar, guests can unwind over handcrafted cocktails while SANTAI Pool Bar and Lounge offers a breezy urban escape, ideal for tropical refreshments by day or a nightcap beneath the glittering skyline.

Sanctuary above the city

On the hotel’s sixth floor, guests will find a tranquil, resort-inspired space anchored by a 25-metre outdoor infinity pool as well as a 24-hour fitness centre.

The area is also home to UR SPA that offers signature treatments such as the “Dusun Inan Body Therapy” and “Urutan Malaysia”, highlighting indigenous techniques and ingredients unique to The RuMa.

Blending ancient wisdom with modern practices, UR SPA offers a holistic retreat for rejuvenation and renewal.
