In the International Baccalaureate programme, academics is balanced with experiential learning through creative thinking in the arts as well as physical activities and community service.

Sunway International Schools’ IB programme nurtures globally-minded thinkers.

THE 21st century is rife with rapid changes and complexities, brought about by technological advancements, societal shifts and increased globalisation. The need to mould responsible, visionary young people through education today has never been more crucial.

International Baccalaureate (IB) is a progressive educational programme that challenges traditional pedagogy which largely revolves around memorisation, IQ tests and passive learning.

The programme zooms in on the need to develop globally-minded inquisitive thinkers, effective communicators, and principled, caring, well-balanced young people through a range of diverse skill sets including critical-thinking and problem solving in multi-disciplinary ways.

Today, IB is the most recognised qualification for admissions into top-tier universities worldwide.

Sharpening minds

Sunway International Schools’ (SIS) phenomenal success in the IB stems from the dedicated line-up of Canadian-certified, IB-trained teachers whose vast experience in IB education has given SIS students the edge in this exciting programme.

The SIS Sunway City Kuala Lumpur campus (SISKL) focuses on IB at a diploma level, while the SIS Sunway City Iskandar Puteri Johor (SISJ) campus offers three IB programmes – the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for ages 11 to 16, Career-Related Programme (CP) and the Diploma Programme (DP) for students aged 16 to 19.

At SISKL, students aged 16 to 19 in the IBDP are required to study five subjects, and academics is only one fraction of the IBDP equation.

To shape young people who can flourish intellectually, emotionally, physically and ethically, students are exposed to three additional compulsory subjects – Theory of Knowledge, Creativity, Action, Service and Extended Essay.

At SIS, there are also opportunities for prospective students to join this prestigious programme with the SIS IBDP Entrance scholarship that offers up to 100% in tuition fees subject to their SPM, O-Levels and Ontario Grade 10 results.

Education for a better world

When it comes to the IB programmes at SIS, the figures speak volumes of its excellent track record in producing the cream of the crop.

SIS Class of November 2022 achieved a 100% passing rate for its IB Programmes, with the highest achievers scoring an incredible 43/45 points.

At SISKL, students surpassed the global IBDP average of 32 points, by scoring a remarkable 36 points.

One of IB’s biggest advantages is that its extensive curriculum is not affiliated with the national education system of any country, making it internationally-transferable and recognised by top universities across the globe.
