LAYING a firm foundation is essential not only to build stable structures, but also to anchor a student’s higher education and place in the future working environment.
The prestige and accolades received by the Taylor’s College pre-university programmes, provided to hundreds of thousands of students over the years, are marked not only by its tenure, but also by its community of dedicated and remarkable students, academic staff and alumni.
Students taking Cambridge A Level (CAL) at the college’s School of Pre-University Studies have collectively achieved over 200 awards for top exam scores both in Malaysia and worldwide, opening doors for them to attend some of the world’s best universities for their tertiary studies.
Recently, seven students were issued awards by Cambridge Assessment International Education for being top and high achievers in their Cambridge International AS and A Level examinations.
Among them, 19-year-old Jonas Law Zhen Yi received a ‘Top in the World’ award for scoring the highest standard mark globally for the further mathematics subject.
Law, who currently studies a combination of physics, mathematics and further mathematics, aims to enrol in a civil engineering programme at prestigious UK universities, such as Imperial College London and UCL.
“I feel very grateful for everyone who has helped me on my college journey so far, especially my lecturers Chin Kok Fui and Ilaya Devi Samylingam.
“Part of my receiving this ‘Top in the World’ award is owed to them for preparing well-structured trial exam questions and revision sets, which require me to train my problem-solving skills and prepare for the real papers.
“The world-class amenities and facilities, such as the Taylor’s library, are also some of the most enjoyable aspects of studying here,” he said.
Knowledge with a purpose, experiences for an impact
Students looking to start their tertiary education with the best pre-university programme are encouraged to conduct research and seek guidance from expert educational counsellors to help them make the right choice to progress from school to college.
Taylor’s Open Day event is back in December with the theme ‘Powering Knowledge with Experience’.
Open to all, participants will get to connect and network with the extensive Taylor’s staff and student community, as well as alumni and industry partners, while learning from first-rate professionals in a wide variety of academic disciplines and industries.
Held over two weekends from Dec 3 to 4 and Dec 10, the line-up of Open Day activities includes a series of webinars, on-ground Pre-U discovery classes, campus tours and consultation sessions with Taylor’s academic counsellors.
Specially curated for students looking to enrol in the pre-university programmes offered, like Cambridge A Level, SACE International, foundation and diploma, Taylor’s College discovery classes in law, business, chemistry, engineering and architecture would give participants an opportunity to experience the engaging learning styles and progression pathways offered by the institution.
Taylor’s Open Day is an experience that introduces students to Taylor’sphere, a learning ecosystem and community that nurtures three intelligences in students — intellect, craft, and practical wisdom.
