Ayam Brand celebrates 130 years of servicing the nation with good food

AFTER more than a century of being a household name and staple in many Malaysians’ homes, Ayam Brand celebrates its 130 years anniversary with exciting deals, and aims to help Malaysians bring the “Taste of Home” into their kitchens with an exciting lineup of 130 recipes.

According to A. Clouet & Co. (KL) Sdn Bhd general manager Chin Lee Foon, the Ayam Brand 130 anniversary campaign road show that was recently held in Sunway Pyramid in Selangor was a gesture of appreciation towards Malaysians for being part of its history.

“Ayam Brand has been a long standing household name and many Malaysians have grown up tasting the products produced by the brand and this event was to thank Malaysians for being part of our journey.

“At the same time we have named this campaign a ‘Taste of Home’ because (we believe) Ayam Brand has helped shape the taste of home of many Malaysian families.

“We also created an e-recipe book to inspire Malaysians to cook more dishes using our products to leave (behind) a taste of home for the future generation,” she said.

Ayam Brand collaborated with local celebrity chefs alongside with participating Malaysians to share creative ways and inspire further culinary creations from Ayam Brand products to fill the pages of a limited-edition recipe e-book titled ‘130-Years of Homely Goodness’ that reminds Malaysians of the unique flavours of home.

“I myself have tried the tuna chilli wrap. It’s quite healthy as the tuna provides protein and Omega-3 wrapped with salad leaves and it’s easy to bring on the go as well.

“Our products are a finished product and also makes for a great ingredient where you can creatively create your own dishes,” she said.

That is why, she added, the e-book comprises 130 recipes created to encourage Malaysians to experiment with a wide range of Ayam Brand products.

“We invited loyal Facebook followers and celebrity chefs to share with us what ‘Taste of Home’ means to them. Some created a rice base main course, desserts and even breakfast meals that are all (truly) Malaysian and uses Ayam Brand products.

“The book took four months to create and is available online. If you buy the Uniqlo UTme! Collection at Uniqlo Fahrenheit 88 and DA Square you get a limited-edition physical copy of the recipe book,” she said.

The e-recipes highlight easy-to-follow instructions for every meal of the day, such as baked beans toast for breakfast, sardine laksa or mee goreng Nyonya for lunch or dinner. Read the e-book here.

One celebrity chef that collaborated with Ayam Brand to create innovative recipes is Ili Sulaiman who has been working with the brand for a few years.

“It is always exciting to work with a household name like Ayam Brand that you grew up with so it was easy to find inspiration (when creating the recipes). All I had to do was look into my memory archive on what I ate growing up.

“But for this one I wanted it to be a little more special and it reflected the different parts of my journey. For instance, the vegan rendang that I did was from my university days when I would cook for my vegetarian friends for Hari Raya celebrations and it was always a hit. When we used it with the Ayam Brand plant-based yumeat brand it just elevated the dish.

“The pineapple tart was so easy to make. As a new mum I don’t have time to think about complicated recipes. This is so easy because you don’t have to cut anything up. It’s all in the can and the syrup is there. You can use the Ayam Brand santan and blitz everything together. It’s so simple to put together.

“Recently, I started making briyani (celebrating my husband’s heritage) and I want to incorporate that journey,” she said, adding that the recipes shared celebrate her journey and new path as a mother and wife.

Aside from bringing a “Taste of Home” to the public, Chin shared that Ayam Brand has also delved into environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.

“Ayam Brand has been emphasising a lot of ESG initiatives such as recycling and also trying to reach out to consumers to eat healthier. It has always been our journey to reduce carbon footprint.

“We hope more families will try out our product and create more recipes that would give them a ‘Taste of Home’. Our products are extremely natural and do not use any preservatives. It is good for the family and also reminds us of home. I grew up with my mum cooking baked beans with eggs. It is like what mum’s cooking should be.

“We hope more Malaysians will create new recipes for the new generation,” she said.
