KEPALA BATAS: A vision made affordable for all, Wakaf Seetee Aisah 2 sounds almost too good to be true but this development by UDA Holdings Bhd is as real as it gets.
Launching this June, the project in Seberang Jaya is the perfect complement to UDA’s 2012 development – Wakaf Seetee Aisah – which was a revelation to Penangites.
UDA chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said that as one of the pioneer developers of housing on wakaf land, the company is out to help meet increasing demand for homes in Penang.
She said the Wakaf Seetee Aisah 2 project is a mixed development on a 2.93ha site with 572 units.
Wakaf Seetee Aisah 2 is divided into three phases:
> Phase 1: 150 low-cost units with three bedrooms (800sqft)
> Phase 2: 422 condominium units with three bedrooms (950sq ft) starting at RM299,000
> Phase 3: 32 units of four-storey shop lots and a seven-storey block featuring office units, surau and convention hall.
“Wakaf Seetee Aisah 2 is a strategic collaboration with the Penang Islamic Religious Council (MAINPP),” she told newsmen after the Meriah Raya UDA 2022 Hari Raya celebration at the Crescent Dew township clubhouse here.
Phases 1 and 2 of the project with a gross development value of RM187mil will be launched in June and Phase 3 and early next year.
With the increasing demand especially for affordable housing in the state, Norliza expressed hope that this development could help easing the housing needs.
Norliza assured that UDA would always build on suitable locations to ensure their housing developments are strategic.
“Wakaf Seetee Aisah was a success. We know there is demand for housing on the mainland.
“When it comes to pricing, from the research we have conducted based on the location, Wakaf Seetee Aisah has one of the lowest,” she said.
Apart from Wakaf Seetee Aisah 2, UDA has identified several other wakaf land in Penang for the development of such projects.
“So far, there is wakaf land in Jelutong, Sungai Nibong and close to Wisma Anak Yatim in Ayer Itam on the island that have been identified and we are still in discussion with MAINPP to have the same concept of housing,” Norliza said.
On Wakaf Seetee Aisah 2, UDA president and chief executive officer Mohd Salem Kailany said the company is confident the project could be completed in 36 months.
“We have started with the substructure (the lower part of a building which is constructed below the ground level). We will start work on the building itself soon.
“We are confident it will be completed within the stipulated time frame or earlier,” he said.
Earlier at the event graced by Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, guests were treated to a lunch of traditional delights and musical entertainment.
The event saw guests mingling and enjoying the Raya atmosphere as they view the scale models of UDA's various developments including Wakaf Seetee Aisah 2.
During the event, UDA shared its Meriah Raya property campaign which offers packages to potential buyers.
Present at the event were UDA Land (North) Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Zainudin Deni and UDA Holdings Berhad group chief operating officer (property development) Noor Azmi Salleh, among others.
