Heriot-Watt University Malaysia provides a solid start to higher education

WHEN you are fresh out of secondary school after your final examinations, you are either prepared for your next step towards building a career, or totally clueless over what your next move should be.

After the safe confines of school, you may find yourself adrift in a whole new world of possibilities.

If your plan is higher education, then a foundation course that gives you the chance to explore your potential is a good start.

At Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM), its Foundation of Science course is a focused programme of academic subjects, study skills and English language training designed to provide you with a direct route into a professionally relevant and internationally recognised degree at the university.

It is also the direct pathway to a range of professionally relevant degrees.

You will be introduced to independent learning and you get to monitor your own development through regular assessments and feedback, before sitting for the final examination.

As a response to these cautious times, Heriot-Watt University has developed a solution that enables students to continue their educational voyage uninterrupted.

Called the Responsive Blended Learning (RBL), the solution responds to learning during a pandemic lockdown and prepares students for the coming Industrial Revolution 4.0.

It combines active, supported online learning, like webinars, with appropriate face-to-face learning opportunities, whenever it is conducive.

Learning is flexible, allowing fast response in changing situations and environments.

This also enables students the world over to begin their educational journey as a cohort without disrupting their progress.

As part of an international group of campuses with roots leading all the way to Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, HWUM offers foundation, graduate and postgraduate programmes of similar qualifications and value as with the main campus. It is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

The university believes that every human being can achieve their best potential through education and understands that the pandemic has disrupted many lives in ways that are unimaginable and worrisome.

HWUM maintains that a solid educational foundation is the best way for you to move forward and realise your dreams: it will listen to your story and provide you the flexibility to keep your options open.

The programme is also designed to stimulate you intellectually and build emotional resilience necessary in today’s environment.

Although the ongoing pandemic still presents challenges, students are assured that HWUM is with them every step of the way, for their dreams are its foundation.

You can apply for the April intake for Foundation of Science as forecast results are accepted.

April intake students also have the flexibility to proceed to the July intake if they wish to retake another programme.

Register by March 31 for a RM2,500 early bird waiver. Fee payments via installments are also available.

Drop by HWUM on Info Day, March 27 and 28 and speak with the education consultants or visit intake.hw.edu.my/foundation/science/
