Sukma 2026: Swimmer Eliza Tan reclaims national record in 100m freestyle

SHAH ALAM: Eliza Tan is making a big splash for hosts Selangor in the Malaysia Games (Sukma) swimming competition.

The 19-year-old became the first athlete to break the national record at Sukma, clocking 57.03s in the heats of the girls’ 100m freestyle at Akuatik Selangor on Thursday (Aug 20).

Eliza thus regained the national record from Nadia Lim, who had set 57.11s at the Asian Age-Group Championships in Bangkok in June.

Nadia had broken the national record of 57.35s set by Eliza in May.

Melaka's Lynna Yeow qualified second-fastest in 59.42s, followed by Nadia in 59.45s.
