Sivasangari goes down fighting in world meet quarter-finals


PETALING JAYA: National squash player S. Sivasangari’s hopes of reaching the World Championship semi-finals ended with a heartbreak in Egypt on Wednesday (May 13). 

Fifth seed Sivasangari put up a valiant fight against top seed Hania El Hammamy in their  quarter-final clash, but went down fighting 11-9, 10-12, 12-10, 5-11, 8-11 in a grueling 93-minute battle at the Palm Hills Sports Club in Giza. 

It was Sivasangari’s eighth loss to Hania in 10 meetings.

The 27-year-old Sivasangari had equalled her best finish at the world meet by reaching the last eight for the second straight year.
