It's all over for Malaysia squash players in British Junior Open quarter-finals


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s young squash players’ campaign at the British Junior Open came to an end in the quarter-finals on Sunday (Nov 4). 

All seven remaining players’ run at the year’s first major junior event was halted by Egyptians at the University of Birmingham Sports and Fitness Centre. 

Fifth seed B. Kavilaasri lost 11-1, 11-6, 11-5 against second seed Alia Elnazer in the girls’ Under-11 category, while in the other quarter-finals game, Siti Aleeya Shahar went down 11-7, 13-15, 11-2, 11-8. 

In the girls’ Under-15, fifth seed Niea Chew could not beat top seed Layan Mooustafa as she bowed out 11-7, 11-3, 11-3. 

Fifth seed Harleein Tan fell 7-11, 8-11, 7-11 against Habiba Rizk in the girls’ Under-17, while Doyce Lee crashed out with a 11-5, 11-6, 11-7  defeat to Malika El Karasky in the girls’ Under-19. 

In the boys’ Under-13 category, fifth seed Hisshan Nair Tan lost 13-11, 11-16, 17-15 against third seed Hussein Ghoneim, while Mohd Sharhan Mohd Saiful fell to Tameem Mostafa Fahmy 10-12, 11-6, 11-3, 11-4.
