Haritz, Chen Jie secure bronze for Malaysia in thrilling 10m mixed team air rifle event


BANGKOK: National rifle shooters Haritz Iklil Hessly Hafiz and Gan Chen Jie clinched the bronze medal in the 10m mixed team air rifle event after defeating Indonesia on Friday (Dec 12).

At the Sports Authority of Thailand Shooting Range in Bang Kapi, Malaysia outscored Indonesia 16-10 to clinch the first bronze medal up for grabs at the event.

Haritz-Chen Jie were forced to compete for the bronze medal after they finished third in the preliminaries earlier, scoring 622.8 points, while Indonesia finished fifth with 620.5 points.

Only the top two scoring teams in the preliminaries advanced to the final, with hosts Thailand (623.4) going up against Vietnam (624.7).

In the other bronze medal match, fourth-place Singapore took on the Philippines, who were sixth in the preliminaries.
