KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia have set a target of winning six gold medals at the Asian Games, which begin in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Sept 19.
Asian Games contingent chef de mission Datuk Sumali Reduan announced the target at the National Sports Complex on Tuesday (Sept 8).
He said Malaysia are also aiming for an overall haul of 33 medals.
Besides the six gold medals, the contingent are targeting seven silver and 20 bronze medals.
The gold medals are expected to come from squash, sepak takraw, track cycling and wushu.
"For the overall target of 23 medals, 13 sports have been identified, including track cycling, badminton, archery, squash, sepak takraw, hockey, diving, karate, wushu, e-sports and athletics," Sumali said.
Malaysia are sending 385 athletes to the Asian Games.
