More than a pastime: Ong Hock Eng bagged medals at the inaugural World Diabolo Contest in Taiwan last November.

PETALING JAYA: Ong Hock Eng’s journey into diabolo did not start with formal lessons, but through curiosity after following his brother’s footsteps in the sport not known to many.

Diabolo, or the traditional Chinese yo-yo, can often be found in many Chinese schools in Malaysia, and that’s where Hock Eng started his journey.
