Sabahan Adeola kicks her way to kumite final

Debutant Adeola Fay Robert

KARATE exponent Adeola Fay Robert is one step away from delivering Malaysia’s first gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after booking her spot in the women’s kumite under 55kg final on Tuesday (Sept 22).

The 20-year-old from Sabah will take on Iran’s Fatemehzahra Saeidabadi in the final at the Toyohashi Gymnasium in Aichi.

Debutan Adeola had defeated Kazakhstan’s Bella Samasheva 5-4 in the semi-finals.

She had started her day by beating Kuwait exponent Asrar Jasem 9-1, before taking down Sevinch Rakhimova of Uzbekistan in a closely fought 8-7 bout.

Adeola had won bronze in the event at the Thailand SEA Games last December.
