Gold proves too heavy for Syafiq


BANGKOK: Taekwondo exponent Syafiq Zuber made a calculated risk to move to a heavier weight category at the start of this year, from the men’s below 80kg to the men’s below 87kg.

And he did not regret his decision. Syafiq almost pulled off a hattrick feat of SEA Games victories in the men’s kyorugi (fighting) discipline. Thailand’s Cho Chaichon, however, proved too big a challenge at the Fashion Island Mall yesterday.
