THE Perodua National Amateur Golf Series 2026 wrapped up its 14-state qualifying circuit with the Wilayah Persekutuan qualifier at Impian Golf & Country Club, Kajang.
The final leg delivered standout performances and confirmed the last batch of champions heading to the national final at Templer Park Country Club.
Norhisam Hussain, playing off a two-handicap, produced an impressive 72 gross to secure the day’s top honour.
His round featured six birdies – four on the back nine and two on the front – accompanied by six pars and six bogeys.
The victory not only sealed his gross winner title but also earned him the automatic appointment as Wilayah team captain for this year.
During the prize presentation, Norhisam urged his teammates to stay disciplined, practice consistently and maintain fitness ahead of the national final.
As captain, he stressed teamwork, commitment and the shared ambition of bringing pride to Wilayah Persekutuan – and ultimately securing Malaysia’s berth at the World Amateur Golf Championships (WAGC) world final 2026.
The strokeplay nett medal contests also produced close and composed performances with the Medal A going to Abdul Malik Hasim (h’cap 4) 73 nett, Medal B Jeffrey Loh (7) 70 nett, Medal C Mohamad Farid Mokhtar (15) 70 nett, Medal D Mohd Puad Abu Bakar (17) 68 nett, and Medal E Muhamad Fadzurrohim Jemain (21) 68 nett.
All the champions earned a 3Day/2Nights national final package, while the runners-up and top finishers received prizes.
With Wilayah Persekutuan’s qualifier concluded, all 14 state champions are confirmed.
A total of 84 finalists will converge on Templer Park from Sept 27 to 29 to see who will represent Malaysia at the WAGC world final 2026 in Desaru Coast, Johor next month.
The Wilayah Persekutuan event was officiated by Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, chairman of Perodua, whose presence underscored the company’s steadfast support for amateur golf and its alignment with Malaysia’s broader tourism and sports development agenda.
His involvement highlighted the growing synergy between corporate leadership, national sports initiatives and the promotion of Malaysia as a premier golf and tourism destination.
