Fundraiser hands out RM600,000 to six organisations for education, welfare
YAYASAN WWRC donates RM600,000 to six charitable organisations, reaffirming its long standing commitment to education, welfare and vulnerable communities through its annual charity golf tournament.
The contributions were presented during a dinner following the 12th Yayasan WWRC Charity Tournament at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam.
WWRC Group South-East Asia chief executive officer Teoh Weng Chai said the tournament has become a key platform for the foundation to channel support to communities in need since its debut in 2013.
“Over the past 12 years, all expenses for our charitable activities have been fully borne by the foundation, and 100% of proceeds raised directed to charitable causes,” he said.
Teoh added that the foundation’s philanthropic work extends beyond the tournament, noting contributions of RM1.817mil in 2025 and RM1.94mil in 2026 to schools, welfare organisations and underprivileged communities.
This year’s recipients – each received RM100,000 – included SJK (C) Lee Min, SJK (C) Yoke Nam, SJK (C) San Min, Angels Care Centre (Negeri Sembilan), SK St. Paul (Seremban), Kiwanis Klang, Kiwanis KKJF, TiRatana Welfare Society Kuala Lumpur and Suriana Welfare Society.
Additional assistance was provided to other underprivileged individuals and groups based on need.
Officiating the dinner, Transport Minister Anthony Loke commended WWRC for their sustained commitment to charitable causes.
“WWRC raises more than RM1mil every year for charity, with all the proceeds channelled directly to those in need.
“This is a commendable initiative that deserves recognition and emulation,” he said.
He also encouraged sponsors and supporters to continue their generosity to help charitable organisations reach more communities.
The evening included with an auction of fine wines, artworks and other collectibles, along with charity singing performances to raise additional funds.
Distinguished guests included Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok, Subang Jaya assemblywoman Michelle Ng, and Kota Kemuning assemblyman Bakhtiar Mohd Nor.
Over the years, the WWRC Charity Tournament has grown into a major philanthropic event, bringing together corporate partners, sponsors and the golfing community to raise funds for meaningful causes.
The Foundation said it remains committed to expanding its social outreach in the years ahead.
