PETALING JAYA: It speaks volumes of Immigration’s Venezuelan midfielder Eduardo Sosa’s (pic) talent when he could still stand out in his team’s goalless draw with Penang in the Super League on Saturday.
The 29-year-old lit up what would have been a typically dull 0-0 affair with his creativity, incisive passing and delightful dribbles that constantly troubled the defenders.
Unsurprisingly, his displays have not gone unnoticed, with several clubs from across South-East Asia reportedly keeping tabs on him.
Sosa expressed satisfaction with both his personal contributions and the team’s progress, especially considering Immigration are a newly assembled side.
“We know this is practically a new team and it’s not easy to get results, but despite that we have done well. I’m also pleased with my performances, having scored six goals and added a couple of assists,” he said.
“It makes me very happy to know I can help the team. I hope to continue improving and play even better.”
Sosa also spoke fondly of his experience in Malaysia, hinting he would be open to extending his stay.
“I like the league and I wouldn’t have any problem continuing here. The country is wonderful and I’m very happy, but we will see what happens at the end of the season,” he said.
Sosa’s impressive form this season is also reflected in his statistics.
According to Sofascore ratings, he ranks among the top five players in the league with an average score of 7.84. He has contributed eight goals and two assists in 15 league appearances.
Equally notable is his dribbling efficiency, boasting an 88 per cent success rate while averaging four successful dribbles per match — numbers that underline his attacking influence.
If Sosa continues to catch the eye with more exciting performances, it could signal a passport out of Immigration soon and entry into a more high-profile team.
