PETALING JAYA: Ajden Mujagic has announced himself as Johor Darul Ta’zim’s (JDT) latest striking sensation when his hattrick helped the Southern Tigers thrash Melaka 5-0 in the Malaysia Cup quarter-final first leg game at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Friday (Feb 13).

On his JDT debut, Mujagic, who joined the team from Sabah in the second transfer window, scored his goals in the 5th, 8th, and 60th minutes, proving a sound addition to their attack.

The Bosnian’s first goal was a classic poacher’s finish, tapping in from close range after Park Jun Heong’s header, itself coming from a corner delivered by Hector Hevel.

The second goal also came from a set piece. Hevel’s free-kick found Feroz Baharuddin, whose header fell kindly to Mujagic, and the 27-year-old forward thumped his effort past Melaka goalkeeper Haziq Aiman Esa.

Mujagic completed his glorious night in the 60th minute, finishing strongly after being played through by Oscar Arribas.

Hidalgo added a fourth in the 71st minute, delicately chipping in from outside the box after receiving a pass from Mujagic.

Marcus Guilherme got the fifth in the 74th minute when he beat the onrushing goalkeeper Haziq Aiman before calmly slotting the ball into the empty net.

The next leg will be held at the Hang Jebat Stadium on Feb 25.
