Mabella can speed Turtles up when he returns from injury

PETALING JAYA: Injured French striker Yan Mabella has vowed to return stronger and help Terengganu rediscover their spark in the Super League.

The Turtles have had a mixed start to the season, sitting fourth in the league with 13 points from eight matches.

While they’ve picked up four wins, one draw and three defeats, fans have been critical of their inconsistency – especially across different competitions.

Their FA Cup journey ended in disappointment when they bowed out in the quarter-finals, losing 3-5 on aggregate to Kuching City.

Mabella, who has been in prolific form this season with eight goals in 10 matches across all competitions, missed both legs of that tie as well as the 0–5 league defeat to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on Oct 31 due to a knee injury.

The 29-year-old confirmed that his recovery is going well but admitted that he will only be ready to return in early December – with the Dec 5 league clash against Kuching City set as his target.

“Right now, I’m still in rehab.

‘‘I had some tests done at the hospital two weeks ago for my knee, and the doctor predicted it would take about a month before I can return to the field,” said Mabella.

“I’m doing my best with the treatment together with the doctor and the staff.

‘‘By the end of the month, we’ll see how my knee is progressing, but for now, my full focus is on recovery.”
