Terengganu Fama refutes claims of foreign traders at farmers' markets

JERTIH: The Terengganu Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) has denied claims circulating on Facebook that non-Malaysian citizens were being allowed to participate as traders at farmers' markets under its supervision.

In a statement on Sunday (Aug 30), Terengganu Fama said the incident actually occurred at Kuala Besut Morning Market and did not involve any farmers' market managed by the agency.

"Only two farmers' markets in Besut are under Fama's supervision, namely Jerteh Farmers' Market, which operates every Thursday from 7am to 1pm, and Alor Lintang Farmers' Market, which operates on Saturdays from 7am to 1pm," it said.

The statement was issued following a social media post that went viral on Saturday (Aug 29), showing a man believed to be a foreign national selling vegetables at a morning market in Besut. – Bernama
