PETALING JAYA: Selangor put on a dominating performance at home to win 5-2 against Terengganu in the Super League at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Wednesday (Aug 27).

The Red Giants made their mark early in the game when Brazilian striker Chrigor put them ahead in the 17th minute.

Winger Alvin Fortes then doubled the lead in the 24th minute, before Chrigor completed his hat-trick by scoring two more goals for the hosts before half-time.

Terengganu, who were hoping to avoid their first league loss of the season, got their name on the scoresheet when Brazilian winger Gabriel Silva converted a penalty in the 60th minute.

The visitors’ efforts to mount a comeback seemed hopeful when Cameroonian winger Junior Ngong Sam reduced the deficit to two goals in the 82nd minute.

But Selangor were set to take the three points and Alif Izwan Yuslan sealed the deal by making it five in added time.

Meanwhile at the Cheras Stadium, Kuala Lumpur maintained their unbeaten run after defeating Police 3-1.

Safawi Rasid got the hosts ahead after 25 minutes, and in the second half, captain Paulo Josue extended that lead in the 53rd minute.

Italian newcomer Nicolau Dumitru then got his first goal as a City Boy after scoring from the penalty spot in the 77th minute.

Police, who remain winless so far this season, got a consolation goal in the 90th minute thanks to Myanmar fullback Kyaw Min Oo.
