Best coach nomination feels like perfect recognition for Aidil

PETALING JAYA: Aidil Sharin’s (pic) coaching feat in guiding Kuching City to be among the top four teams in the Super League has drawn much acclaim.

The Singaporean has earned a deserved nomination for best coach in the 2024-2025 Malaysian Football Awards.

This is Aidil’s fourth nomination. He earned his first nod during his time with Kedah in the 2019 season, where he led them to FA Cup success and a runners-up finish in the Malaysia Cup.

Further nominations followed that year till 2021, where Aidil became renowned as a coach with a knack for turning average sides into strong outfits.

Aidil, however, is not thinking much about finally winning the accolade this time as he has Johor Darul Ta’zim’s Hector Bidoglio and Selangor’s Katsuhito Kinoshi to contend with.

“I’m just grateful to be nominated and I’m not thinking of winning it. Even more so, as coach of Kuching City, a side who finished only 13th last season but who are now in the top four,’’ said Aidil.

As for Bidoglio, who has already led JDT to the Super League title this season, it is his second nomination after his first in 2022.

Kinoshi, who is in his debut season in the Malaysian League, is up for the award after guiding Selangor to second spot in the Super League.
