Impressive training form earns Syafiq World Cup slot ahead of veteran Tze Liang

PETALING JAYA: It’s now or never for diver Mohd Syafiq Puteh as he gets a shot at making it to the Olympic Games stage for the first time.

There was a surprise in the submission of Malaysian team entries for the Diving World Cup in Tokyo from May 1-6 as coach Christian Brooker opted to put Syafiq instead of 2014 Commonwealth Games champion Ooi Tze Liang as the second diver alongside Chew Yiwei for the men’s 3m springboard individual event.
