PETALING JAYA: Para cyclist Nur Suraiya Mohd Zamri rode her way to a second gold medal at the Asian Cycling Championships in Tagaytay, Philippines, on Friday (March 27).
Together with pilot Farina Shawati Mohd Adnan, Suraiya clinched gold in the women’s (B) sprint after winning both races against Kazakhstan’s Anastassiya Kalaus at the Tagaytay City Velodrome.
The duo clocked 12.295s in Race 1 and followed it up with a 12.422s in Race 2 to take the win.
This adds to their gold tally after also winning the 1km time trial race on Friday.
Compatriots Nur Azlia Syafinaz Mohd Zais-Nurul Suhada Zainal clinched bronze after they defeated Kazakhstan’s Moldir Zhantore in the third-place race.
Meanwhile, Mohd Khairul Hazwan Wahab and pilot Mohd Khairul Adha Rasol settled for silver after Japan’s Kazuhei Kimura won the deciding race.
Kazuhei got ahead in Race 1 with 12.295s, but Khairul came back to force the decider by clocking 10.928s. However, the Japanese rider clinched gold with 10.802s in the final race.
Bronze went to Indonesia’s Nur Fendi, who beat Kazakhstan's Kenzhegul Seitzhan.
The Asian meet ends on Tuesday (March 31).
