Impressive feat: Mohd Yusof Hafizi Shaharuddin won the men’s C1-C2 individual road cycling time trial in Thailand.

PETALING JAYA: Para cyclist Mohd Yusof Hafizi Shaharuddin’s sacrifice in leaving his family for a two-month training camp in Suphan Buri paid dividends when he became the first Malaysian gold medallist at the Asean Para Games in Thailand.

The 28-year-old reigning world champion secured the win in the men’s C1-C2 individual road cycling time trial at Suranaree University of Technology in Nakhon Ratchasima.
