PETALING JAYA: There was no happy return to high-level competition for world keirin champion Azizulhasni Awang after he crashed and hurt his right ankle at the opening leg of the UCI Track World Cup in Pruszkow, Poland.
Azizulhasni, who rode to a double in the KL SEA Games in August, had to ride in the repechage after finishing fourth in his first-round heat of the men’s keirin, which was won by Dutchman Matthijs Buchli on Saturday evening.
