Hariz’s three-gold feat at Interstate makes him a bowler to watch at national meet

Taking the spotlight: Mohd Hariz Adlan Azman was the best performer in the men’s category.

PETALING JAYA: National junior bowler Mohd Hariz Adlan Azman is definitely shaping up well for the upcoming National Championships after winning three gold medals in the recent Interstate Championships.

Competing in the men’s category, the Penang kegler had a slow start after finishing seventh with 1,231 pins in the singles event at the Sunway Megalanes in Petaling Jaya on Wednesday.

Hariz, however, quickly regrouped and got his act right in the doubles event with his partner Megat Zaqrul Haiqal Megat Zairudin to strike a gold medal with a total of 2,500 pins on Thursday.

He continued the strong performance by joining forces with Nyak Arif Hakimi and Syed Azfar Danial to win the team event with a combined score of 4,832 pins.

The icing on the cake was Hariz emerging as the men’s all-events champion with a total of 3,746 pins.

With three gold medals in the bag, Hariz was the best performer in the men’s category.

The achievement serves as the perfect confidence and motivation booster for Hariz as he gears up for his participation in the national meet on Wednesday.

Despite his success, Hariz remains grounded and cautious, not wanting to be overly confident.

“I felt great because this is one of my best achievements in the Interstate Championships,” said the 20-year-old Hariz.

“I just picked up all of the spares, enjoyed the game and tried to make good shots in every frame and avoided making silly mistakes.

“This accomplishment has definitely boosted my confidence for the National Championships but I don’t want to be overconfident.”

It was an improved performance from Hariz as he brought home two gold medals in the boys’ singles and doubles events, and a silver in the team event in last year’s edition.
