PETALING JAYA: National bowler Qurratu’Ain Izdihar Pozi continues to show grace even in defeat.

The 17-year-old added another bronze medal to her haul after finishing in the girls’ doubles with teammate Intan Nor Edryana Nor Azliman at the International Friendship Youth Championship in Doha on Thursday.

The Malaysian pair totalled 2,493 pins to place fourth overall, but shared the bronze medal with Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Florentino–Valeria Rosado, who finished third with 2,533.

Singapore’s Jerlyn Lam–Shirlene Wong captured gold with 2,592 pins, edging the Czech Republic’s Zuzana Kvasnickova–Ema Iwazawa, who settled for silver with 2,591.

The result added to Qurratu’Ain’s earlier bronze in the singles event, though she admitted the competition in Doha had been particularly demanding.

“The final was tough as all the bowlers performed extremely well. I just focused on doing my best and giving it my all because I knew the competition was strong,” said Qurratu’Ain.

“I truly gave it my best, but I have to acknowledge that many others performed better too. Still, I’m grateful to have secured bronze.”

Meanwhile, Ethan Damien Goh and Wan Mohd Zarif Ikram also clinched bronze in the boys’ doubles after posting 2,734 pins.

They shared the podium with Singapore’s Brian Ngoi–Aviel Chua, who were fourth with 2,719. Puerto Rico’s Edgardo Ramos–Pedro Ramos won gold with 2,793 pins, while Japan’s Saito Daiya–Suda Fumine took silver with 2,771.
