PETALING JAYA: Teo Kok Siang has rejoined the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) as one of their coaches.
The 36-year-old Kok Siang will report for duty on Sept 1, and be under the charge of national doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky.
The move comes following the departure of mixed doubles head coach Nova Widianto of Indonesia from the BAM setup.
“I’m not sure where I will be assigned to, whether to be placed in mixed doubles or another department,” said Kok Siang.
“I will start on Sept 1, and will follow coach Rexy’s arrangement. We will surely have discussions in the next few weeks,” said Kok Siang.
Kok Siang has been the man behind the rise of several professional shuttlers, including Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani.
This year, world No. 6 Sze Fei-Izzuddin have done well in several international tournaments, including winning the Indonesian Masters and Indonesian Open.
The former national player Kok Siang served as a coach with BAM for five years from 2017 before leaving to guide the pros.
Among Kok Siang’s other notable achievements include guiding mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie to successfully defend their Swiss Open title last year and clinch the Malaysia Masters in 2024.
