Proud moment: Aaron Chia is honoured to receive the 2026 Seri Melaka Award in the Sports Category.

PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttler Aaron Chia has added another accolade to his growing list of achievements after being named the recipient of the Sports Category award at the 2026 Seri Melaka Awards.

The 29-year-old from Batu Berendam, who just finished as runners-up at the Taiwan Open with teammate Aaron Tai, was honoured to receive the award from his home state.

“Truly honoured to receive the 2026 Seri Melaka Award Sports Category,” said Aaron.

“Grateful to be recognised by the state I call home. It means a lot to me, and serves as another reminder to keep working, keep improving, and keep giving my best.

“Thank you for the recognition and for everyone who continues to support me along the way.”

Aaron also gave special credit to the Melaka Badminton Association for the recognition.

Chia and his new partner Aaron Tai had reached the Taiwan Open finals in only their second outing together as a pair, following their China Open campaign two weeks ago, which ended in the opening round.
